Going Green ...

I have always had a big interest in skin care. Most conventional brands but even Natural ones. I have a sensitive and reactive skin prone to eczema and psoriasis. After years of testing products from different brands, I decided to Go Green when it comes to skin, body, hair and makeup. In 2008 I started to replace my "old" skin care products with greener alternatives.

It's not easy to find good skin care product. What suits one person might not be good for others. Lots of brands on the market claim to give all sorts of effects, be gentle, unscented, special focus on sensitive skin, etc.

In order to avoid unnecessary and harmful ingredients for both humans and our planet is the safest option to choose products that are naturally derived and organic products.

Just because it's a natural/organic product it does not mean that it is suitable for everyone.. Far from so, but it is just as with any other products, you have to test your way and simply avoid the substances you know you react negatively to. With natural/organic products you do know that they do not contain harmful substances affecting humans or the environment.

It's important to make sure that the product really is exactly what it claims to be. Many say that their products are organic, but only a few ingredients of the full product might be, which means that complete product is not at all as natural/organic as the label might aspire. It's misleading the consumer.

When you get deeper into the field there is a lot to learn but it is very interesting.

In august 2009 I created the "Go Green Makeup" blog. Writing about natural and organic cosmetics, with tips on different brands of natural cosmetics/organic skin care and makeup, as well as information on where to buy them. Even my own reviews of the tested products are featured.

Different natural/organic certifications have different levels of what they require of the product wearing their label. You still have to be careful and read the ingredients list to make sure there are as pure as you hope for. NATRUE certification levels are strict and therefore I strongly believe in NATRUE work for better information and that more and more (conventional) brands stop label/marketing their product with misleading information.
