The staff canteen at Logona is a typical example of how natural cosmetic producers live their values.

I will never forget when I first ate at the Logona staff canteen in the German town of Salzhemmendorf. I was highly impressed and I really appreciated seeing a feature about it on German public TV some days ago.

You can see the video under this linkIt's in German, so here is a short summary:

The staff restaurant serves organic food (98% of all food served and only excluding certain spices). It forms part of a sustainable production and consumption pattern: all ingredients come from the region.

And they pay attention to a balanced, healthy diet. Meat for example is only served twice per week.

The employees can bring their children for lunch and the restaurant also provides food to the local Kindergarden and maternity school.

What a great contribution to the well-being of the local community.

For me this is a beautiful illustration of how this company naturally implements values into tangible actions.

After all  'charity' begins at home. Whilst efforts to contribute to Fair Trade are highly desirable and recommendable, the local Community should never be forgotten.

And what better place to start than with their own staff and schools. Educating children is much more effective than re-educating adults with ingrained and unhealthy behavior patterns!
